Kistefos is situated in beautiful surroundings by the river, Randselva, in Jevnaker, just an hour from Oslo and 45 minutes from Oslo Airport Gardermoen. Kistefos is an encounter with magnificent nature, art and culture, continuously changing and expanding.
The former Kistefos Wood Pulp Mill is today an industrial museum, which through several interactive installations presents an important chapter of Norwegian industrial history.
The Sculpture Park was initiated in the late nineties, and has continued to grow each year. The beautiful lawns surrounding the old factory buildings are filled with approximately 40 works by important contemporary artists such as Anish Kapoor, Fernando Bottero, Elmgreen & Dragset, Tony Cragg, Marc Quinn and Phillip King.
Kistefos offers annual art exhibitions by Norwegian and international artists. In the summer of 2019, Kistefos is set to open a new spectacular museum building designed by the renowned architectural firm BIG. The building will cross the river and is an art hall, a sculpture and a bridge – all in one.
