About us

This museum is dedicated to the Norwegian emigration to America during the late 19th century and early 20th century. The museum focuses on the lives and experiences of the Norwegian settlers in America. The Norwegian Emigrant Museum houses a large collection of artefacts and documents as well as eight buildings in the museum park. All the buildings were built by Norwegian settlers in America and have been donated and transported to the Norwegian Emigrant Museum. Among the buildings is a church from Houston in Minnesota and a school house from Sanborn County in South Dakota.

If you are looking for something specific in the archives, it can be wise to contact the museum in advance to arrange for the files to be prepared for your visit.
