A DYNAMIC INDUSTRY IN A DYNAMIC MUSEUM
Norwegian Petroleum Museum is suited for everyone. The museum provides a modern interactive setting for experiencing how oil and gas were created millions of years ago, how petroleum is found and how it is used. Original objects, models, films and interactive exhibits convey the history of oil operations on the Norwegian continental shelf. The exhibitions are texted in English as well as Norwegian. Paper guides are available in 11 languages. The museum also provides information about technological advances and the way petroleum influences Norwegian society.
ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNGSTERS
Throughout the museum, you will find science activities, such as the Catastrophe room, a dark labyrinth – and the escape chute – for those who dare. For the little ones the play platform Småtroll is recommended.
The museumfilm “Oilkid” – is a film about growing up in times of changes. Stavanger went through a major change as it became the “capitol” of the nation’s oil industry. How did the residents deal with those changes?
Four pieces must fall in place for oil and gas to occur. The energy in oil and gas derives from the sun which shone on algae in the oceans several hundred million years ago. This exhibition takes you below the waves where the oil and gas has been waiting.
MEETINGS AND CONFERENCES
Norwegian Petroleum Museum provides an excellent venue for meetings and conferences up to 100 participants. Guided tours and refreshments are tailored to user needs.
The museum shop offers interesting gifts for young and old as a memento of the visit. Something which expands your knowledge of oil and gas, or simply something you like.
