Saltstraumen Camping is a perfect stop-over to experience the world’s strongest tidal current and its whirlpools. The Maelstrom of Saltstraumen can reach up to 25 knots and is a unique place to experience the forces of nature.
Saltstraumen is located at the northern most point of Kystriksveien - the coastal route along the Nordland coastline. Saltstraumen Camping located only 250 meters away from the bridge and has 21 cabins and 3 apartments with WC/shower, TV and dishwasher. We have also ample room for tents and more than 80 caravan spaces available. Our service
houses have private WC/showers, common cooking area and BBQcabin for use. Free Wi-Fi.
There are paths leading down from the camping place to Saltstraumen for sightseeing and fishing. The paths are made for wheelchair use. There are also hiking trails in the nearby mountains perfect for day trips up to the peaks.
Saltstraumen DykkeCamp, located in the same building as the reception, offers guided dives in the current for the experienced divers or snorkelling for less experienced persons. We can also offer RIB tours to come really close to the Maelstrom.
The town of Bodø is only 33 km away. There you can find restaurants, cafés, shopping, locally made food and products, indoor water park and the national Norwegian Aviation Museum. Bodø is also know for its rich music life, festivals and its new awarded concert house and library down in the harbour.
