In a spectacular setting a stone’s throw from the sea and surrounded by the mountains at the heart of Sunnhordland, Skånevik and the fjord hotel make a natural starting point and base camp for exploring the region between Stavanger and Bergen.
The variety and scope of activities in and around Skånevik are of the essence: on their own or arranged by us in cooperation with our partners: Easy-going tours of discovery in the cosy city streets or in the hills around the hotel, or more demanding hikes to the summit (perhaps with a guide) in the mountains that surround our village? Fjord fishing from shore or by boat, horse riding, guided tours and visits to local farms... or perhaps to one of the local art galleries?
Within walking distance of the centre up towards the nearest mountains is Skånevik Wilderness Camp. Here, with stunning views of the fjord, the islands and majestic, snow-covered mountains in the distance, a wide range of exciting wilderness activities are on offer.
Skånevik is also the venue for a number of special events and festivals throughout the year, of which the most famous is the Skånevik Blues Festival, the West Country’s largest, featuring international names in rock, blues and soul, and the Pippi Festival – Norway’s only festival dedicated to the world’s strongest girl.
In the midst of this idyllic fjord-country setting you will find Skånevik Fjord Hotel: 51 newly renovated rooms, many with private veranda door to the lovely hotel garden, plus a restaurant serving delicious three-course dinners or a simple cafe menu. We also offer health and fitness facilities providing traditional or Thai massage, aromatherapy, pedicure and manicure. At the restaurant’s outdoor tables or by the open fire in the lounge our guests can also spend hours resting in a comfortable chair overlooking the garden and the relaxing beaches of the fjord.
Skånevik is easily accessible by car, bus or boat from Bergen, Haugesund or Stavanger.
